The game is a sequel of Dead or Alive series. The story of the game follows the events of Dead OR Alive 5 and also focusing on 2 separate main narratives and new side story episodes will also be added for returning characters. This version of game also introduced new stages combined with the fan-favorite Danger Zones, where fighter can use the environment in his attacks. In DOA 6 to many new game styles are introduced like Fatal Rush, Break Blow, A Break Hold and many more styles are introduced. For the first time customization mode was introduced in this version which allow the player to customize his favorite characters before joining the fight. In the game fight was based on a triangle system like strikes, holds and strikes. This game also features special regions which have include heavy damage when a fighter gets knocked into them. In this version if a player is blown into the crowd while fighting, the crowd push the fighter back in. Stage objects such as boxes or jars are destructible. Player can earn extra damage by blowing opponents into them.
